Independent Stave Company and the Boswell Family Surpass $1.7 Million in Support of Alzheimer's Research with Latest $250,000 Gift
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Columbia, MO [October 21, 2026] — Independent Stave Company and the Boswell Foundation have donated $250,000 to the Alzheimer's Association, bringing their total contributions in support of Alzheimer's research and related initiatives to more than $1.748 million. Through the Alzheimer's Association, the latest gift will help advance research focused on understanding, preventing and treating Alzheimer's disease, including studies examining amyloid plaques and tau proteins, as well as prevention-focused clinical trials led by the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer's Network (DIAN) at Washington University in St. Louis.
The donation continues a longstanding commitment to the Alzheimer's Association and its mission to advance research, improve care and support individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease. Through the Association's research programs and partnerships, funding helps accelerate scientific discoveries while bringing hope to those imipacted by the disease.
Among the research initiatives supported through the Alzheimer's Association is the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer's Network (DIAN), a global research effort led by Washington University in St. Louis that studies individuals and families affected by inherited forms of Alzheimer's disease. Funding also supports the Amyloid Removal Trial (ART), an ongoing study evaluating whether the removal of amyloid plaques can delay or prevent the onset of dementia. Additional research seeks to intervene before amyloid plaques develop and explores new approaches that simultaneously target both amyloid plaques and tau tangles, two of the defining biological hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease.
"Alzheimer's disease has affected our family, just as it has impacted millions of families around the world," said Brad Boswell, CEO of Independent Stave Company. "While significant progress has been made in understanding the disease, there is still much work to be done. We are proud to support the Alzheimer's Association and the researchers working to advance prevention, treatment and ultimately a cure. Their work brings hope to families facing Alzheimer's today and for future generations."
In addition to financing groundbreaking research, donations by the Boswell Foundation also support local Alzheimer's Association chapters that provide caregiver support groups, educational programs, care consultations and dementia resources for families navigating the challenges of Alzheimer's disease. These chapters include the Greater Missouri Chapter and the Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter.
"While advancing research remains critically important, we also recognize the need to support individuals and families living with Alzheimer's today," said Amie Boswell Kennett, Director of the Boswell Foundation. "The Alzheimer's Association provides invaluable education, caregiver support, and resources that help people navigate an incredibly difficult journey. We are proud to support both the search for tomorrow's breakthroughs and the services that make a difference in people's lives right now."
